To meet the new challenges faced by the humanitarian sector, we are creating a special innovation fund. On this occasion, a platform made up of 15 partners and the Global Humanitarian Lab has been established.

In 2017, we committed ourselves to sustainably delivering assistance to people in distress in Switzerland and we sought to meet the new requirements of humanitarian aid. The new year has a number of challenges in store for us, including the threat to our partnership with SSR.

Thanks to your generosity since last April’s launch of the fundraising campaign, Swiss Solidarity have raised nearly 19 million francs.

ROHINGYA EMERGENCY Over a half-million Rohingya have had to flee their villages in Myanmar due to increasing violence and have taken refuge in overpopulated camps in Bangladesh. Since our national day of solidarity for famine victims in Africa on 11 April 2017, we have received donations amounting to CHF 17.8 million. Our partner NGOs use this money to care for undernourished children, provide water and food and treat the ill and injured.

In 2016 SRF and Swiss Solidarity ran their eighth joint fundraising appeal “Jeder Rappen zählt”, this time to raise money for unaccompanied child refugees. CHF 6,700,124 in donations was raised up to mid-June.
