In view of the escalating conflict in Lebanon and the worsening situation for civilians in Gaza, Swiss Solidarity is stepping up its efforts to help the victims of the humanitarian crisis in the Middle East. It has launched an urgent appeal for donations.

Famine was declared in North Darfur in early August. This is only the third time since its foundation that the responsible authority has officially declared a famine. Without the necessary additional aid, the situation could spread to other regions of the country.
