Our aid

Since the beginning of the crisis, our Swiss NGO partners, including Caritas, Medair, Vétérinaires Sans Frontières, Save the Children and Doctors Without Borders, have been providing vital emergency aid to people affected by the conflict in Sudan and neighbouring countries. Thanks to your donations, we have already been able to fund 6 humanitarian projects, providing access to health care, food aid, hygiene and essential items, as well as fishing and farming kits. They also include protection and psychosocial support for those affected.

Humanitarian access

Humanitarian access to Sudan remains very difficult, mainly due to insecurity, lack of funding and technical and humanitarian staff, and impassable or blocked roads. As a result, most of our projects are currently based in South Sudan, where about a third of the refugees are located.

Humanitarian needs

For more than a year, Sudan has been devastated by a deadly conflict. 10.8 million people have been forced to flee their homes to escape the violence – that’s more than the entire population of Switzerland. Of these, 1.8 million have sought refuge in neighbouring countries, mainly South Sudan and Chad.

The humanitarian needs remain enormous. In Sudan, more than 18 million people are at risk of famine. Neighbouring countries have inadequate infrastructure to cope with this massive influx. The vast majority of displaced people are women and children, who are not only traumatised by the war, but also in desperate need of food, clean water and medical care.

We need your support to strengthen the work of our partners on the ground and meet the immense needs of those affected by the conflict.
