About us
Mission and mandate
In partnership with the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation SRG SSR and various private media organisations, the Swiss Solidarity Foundation (SwS) has been a key player in promoting solidarity in Switzerland for over 75 years.
Our vision
Swiss Solidarity is the benchmark organisation for leveraging the Swiss population’s spirit of solidarity to help those most affected by adversity in Switzerland and by disasters and humanitarian crises around the world.
Through its fundraising campaigns for victims of natural disasters, conflicts and humanitarian crises, SwS supports local and international projects carried out by 28 partner NGOs.
The organisation’s commitment is founded on strong values such as solidarity, independence and excellence, while ensuring that the donations received are managed transparently and achieve a lasting impact.
Our values
- Solidarity
Swiss Solidarity is dedicated to expressing the Swiss population’s solidarity with victims of disasters and humanitarian crises both at home and internationally.
- Partnerships
Swiss Solidarity was created as a partnership with its founder, the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation SRG SSR. SwS is tasked with fundraising and, in collaboration with its implementing partners (NGOs, associations, etc.), carrying out humanitarian and social projects abroad and in Switzerland. Together, these partners act in the interests of Swiss Solidarity, with the shared goal of fulfilling its mission.
- Independence
Swiss Solidarity remains independent of its partners and is able to adapt when necessary to changes in the humanitarian, social, media and financial sectors.
- Excellence
Swiss Solidarity strives for excellence in all its activities, including partner relations, project management, communication, fundraising, staffing and financial management, all while adhering to the highest ethical standards.
- Respect
In funding and carrying out projects, Swiss Solidarity and its partners respect the humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality and independence.
- Accountability
Swiss Solidarity is accountable to its donors and beneficiaries.

- Ensures that the donations entrusted to it are put to good use, in accordance with donors’ wishes
- Undertakes to use no more than 5% of funds received to cover operating costs, thereby ensuring that donations make a real difference for those who need it most
- Applies exacting standards and sufficient monitoring in implementing projects
- Selects which projects to fund by means of a professional, objective and transparent process
- Adheres to an open and transparent information policy and reports publicly on both the aid provided and the results achieved
- Acts in a non-discriminatory and politically, ideologically and religiouslyneutral manner
- Encourages the sharing and promotion of skills and knowledge in the humanitarian sector, both in its regular activities and complementary initiatives
